Brock McLaughlin is a Toronto-based artist whose journey in art has taken him from corporate confines to the expressive realm of galleries and public spaces. His first solo show last year marked a pivotal moment in his career, leading him to compete in Secret Walls at Art Basel in Miami in 2023. Under the mentorship of Joe Fleming in 2024, Brock is refining his approach to gallery shows, focusing on an ever-evolving body of work.
Drawing inspiration from childhood and a desire to escape the mundane, Brock's creations delve into the in-between spaces of our lives, those often seen but rarely fantasized about. His art is a nostalgic yet innovative fusion of paintings and found objects, primarily sourced from the streets of Toronto. Using acrylics, ink, stuffed animals, and a variety of collected items, he crafts new worlds that feed his inner child and evoke the simplicity and wonder of youth.
