Cassandra is a senior makeup artist who decided to switch gears and focus on other aspects of artistry, such as creating mixed media artworks and exploring fashion. "Growing up, art for me came naturally. I loved to paint and draw on almost any surface I could find. Art has always been something that stayed very consistent in my life. Not only did I find it fun and therapeutic, but it also was a healthy outlet to express myself. Music was also a massive part of my up bringing. My parents raised me in a household where music was held of high importance. It is safe to say I grew up in an environment where I was able to express my creative freedom in any way I wanted to. When it came to fashion and art, I was never afraid to make a statement. I think I have coloured my hair every possible colour you can think of. My clothes were extremely bold. I would modify my t-shirts by cutting off the collars and sleeves, bleach dye most garments or add chains and patches to my jackets. I was never afraid of putting on a pair of stilettos and stomping around my high school's hallways going from class to class. I was drawn to more to leathers, studs, buckles and distressed denim. After high school, I found myself in life altering events that prevented me from creating for years. It was not until the pandemic that I started make art. I sat with myself and thought about the things that truly make me happy. It was during that time that I promised myself I would never stop creating again. The characters in my art are a representation of myself wandering around the world, trying to rebuild myself or process emotions after certain life altering events. Comparing my older works into my newer ones, the characters have progressed physically. They used to be hollow, just barely flesh and bones, whereas now they have began to have eyes, flesh, hands and feet. This represent the growth within myself as I am progressively becoming whole. I love to incorporate a lot of texture in my work. I use a lot of mixed materials such as acrylic paints, markers, oil pastels and markers, along with different textures of paper. I also use scrap textiles and sew them into my canvases. 444 Rebel Society offers unique one-of-a-kind pieces and artworks for individuals who aren't afraid to make a statement."
